Onboard renovation with IHC Merwede

At the request of the IHC Renovation department, a major renovation job by the IHC Merwede docking and ship repair engineers was performed recently on a hopper dredger in South Africa - all onboard.

Our specialist job was the installation of a telescopic overflow, the replacement of the existing overflow via the side, and the installation of a service frame. Furthermore an upgrade of the dredge control and monitoring system was performed. The necessary materials were supplied by IHC Systems and they also supervised the operations. These included the installation of a position monitoring system on the suction tube and bowpipe and the control of the dredging installation via skada/touch screens. Also the complete hydraulic installation is overhauled. This was done under close supervision of IHC Hytop.

All operations were executed within time and to great satisfaction of the customer.
