Turning glands

IHC Parts & Services designs and manufactures turning glands for optimally reliable operation and sturdiness available in various diameters and suitable for all normal working pressures.

Turning glands are designed to allow pipes and components to safely rotate around their axis and thus ensure greater manoeuverability and safety even under heavy working conditions. They are used in trailing suction pipes, barge loading and unloading pipes, swivel and swan-neck bends in floating pipelines and whenever components must be able to rotate.

Turning gland with packing

A simple and easy to maintain packing gland. This type does not transmit significant longitudinal loads. The seal is provided by high quality packings and bronze wearing ring. In standard form turning glands are suitable for pressures up to 10 bar.

Turning gland with rubber lip seal

In this unit a nodular cast iron ring takes longitudinal and transverse loads and no supporting structure is required. At high pressures, however, this type turns less easily and this explains the fact that it is mainly employed in trailing suction pipes, and in flushing and barge loading pipes. Because they permit air to be drawn in, glands of this type cannot be incorporated in suction lines above the water. Short and long versions can be supplied depending on loads expected.
