Breather valves

Breather valves are fitted on top of a pipeline to ensure rapid, smooth commencement or stopping of flow of dredge mixture, and eliminate much of the possible damage that could occur from vacuum shock or sinker buoyancy.

IHC Parts & Services manufactures standard breather valves suitable for pressures up to 40 bar.

Onboard and on land

On board dredgers breather valves are used between dredge pumps and in discharge pipes on deck. They are also widely used to protect sunken pipelines and at regular intervals on shore pipelines where they are typically installed in undulating terrain and before and after booster stations. The simple design and quality materials used mean the breather valve can be installed and effectively forgotten. Operating security is assured.
