The natural movements of a vessel in sea conditions and the natural undulation of the seabed mean that precise draghead control is necessary to maintain good contact. Precise draghead control results in better production and avoids undue stresses on the system. The IHC Parts & Services swell compensator addresses this control issue.

The IHC Parts & Services swell compensator has been designed to operate effectively in both average and extremely difficult working conditions. In addition to tackling uneven seabed profiles, it compensates vertical vessel motion at the gantry of up to six metres. To achieve optimal production, every swell compensation system is set up specifically for the individual vessel, hardware and range of conditions in which it will work. It is assembled from regularly available components, ensuring it forms a reliable link in the trailing suction installation.
