Ball joints provide a reliable and flexible load-bearing connection between sections of a pipeline.
The principle field of application is in floating lines on pontoons. They are also commonly used in swan-neck bends in suction and discharge pipelines. When used in suction lines they must be mounted below the waterline in order to prevent air being drawn in. Ball joints can also be applied as a replacement for stern turning glands in cases where, besides pure torsional freedom along the longitudinal axis, also an amount of tilting is required.
All IHC Parts & Services ball joints basically consist of: case with a replaceable wear resistant liner precision machined ball retaining ring in bayonet form flexible seal to prevent leakage. The retaining ring is fitted with bayonet attachments for quick and safe mounting and removal. All IHC Parts & Services ball joints are equipped with stops to prevent over-tilting and jamming.
