About cutter suction dredgers

IHC Merwede’s vessel range comprises amongst others a wide range of advanced cutter suction dredgers (CSD). 

All dredging equipment on cutter suction dredgers can be supplied by IHC Parts & Services.  At the suction inlet of a cutter suction dredger is the cutter head which loosens the earth by cutting it from the sea floor and transports it to the suction mouth.  Strong dredge pumps (submerged or onboard) enable the transport from the seafloor and discharge it to a barge or directly to the shore by means of floating pipelines.
