Cutter Special Pump

IHC Parts & Services, IHC Beaver Dredgers and MTI Holland, have collaborated over the development of the HR-CS^® cutter special pump – an application created specifically for cutter suction dredgers.

Avoiding pump blockage

Medium and large cutter suction dredgers are designed to operate in a large range of soil types. Materials like sand, clay and gravel do not normally obstruct the dredge pump, but rock is a different story.

To avoid the pump becoming blocked by large pieces of rock, it is necessary for dredgers to be equipped with a cutter head passage smaller then the sphere passage of the installed dredge pump. In spite of this smaller cutter head passage, rocks can still enter and block the dredge pump, resulting in significant downtime for the dredger. In medium and large cutter dredgers in particular, down-time is very expensive.

New generation

To counteract this problem and meet the demand for efficiently dredging and transporting large parts of rock, IHC Parts & Services BV has designed a new generation of dredge pump – the high-efficiency cutter special dredge pump (HR-CS^®).
