Special Gearboxes

To meet the extreme demands in dredging

IHC Parts & Services develops special gearboxes for dredging. They have been designed for use in extreme situations, for example in submerged applications. They are developed to effectively absorb the loads from dredge equipment and for precise control of output speed. Robustness and reliability are key factors in the gearbox designs.

Dredge wheel drive
IHC Parts & Services designs various gearboxes for powering dredging wheels. They are suitable for use down to a depth of 100 metres, and can take up dredging loads to pass these on to the ladder.

Submerged dredge pump drive
Another application for a gearbox developed by IHC Parts & Services is in the drive train of submerged dredge pumps. The impeller of the pump is directly mounted on the output shaft of the gearbox. The bearing system of the gearbox can take up the pump loads directly. A high speed electric motor and dredge pump are directly mounted on the gearbox. The submerged gearboxes are custom-built for a specific application.
